Portuguese Designer Daniela Pais founded Elementum in 2007 as a part of her MA studies in Humanitarian Design and Sustainable Living at Design Academy Eindhoven. A year later she established her independent sustainable design studio in the Netherlands and founded the brand Elementum. Since 2017 is based in Portugal where she continues to develop Elementum, teaches in design schools, and consults companies about future trends and sustainability.
Elementum warmer knits are made in the Netherlands, once a rich country in the wool industry but nowadays there are only four factories left.
The owner of Knit-it is Rudi, is our knitter. He is very curious and loves to develop new designs...the perfect partner...
We had a chance to meet Leonor and her inspiring studio in Porto. After few works as Graphic and Textile designer ELLEONOR started her solo project in 2014, as Designer and Artist, followed by the curiosity and exploration of different areas of creation, strong colors and irregular shapes... We completely fell in love with her work...
Elementum and Yuka Okada met each other in a sustainable fashion event in Tokyo. Since then their friendship has grown, personally and professionally. We asked a few questions to our dear friend and collaborator, Yuka, owner of INHEELS, a Japanese sustainable fashion brand and also co-founder of a creative residency in Tokyo called Almost Perfect.
We recently collaborated with Lisbon based painter Daniela Krtsch for her exposition ‘Facing Youth’, at Porta 14 Exhibition room in Lisbon 2018. Last December, we stopped by her studio to say hello, and talk about herself, her work, Elementum’s shirt dress and fashion.
